
Robert Frank: Black White and Things (Facsimile / 1st edition by Scalo Verlag in 1994) .
In 1952, Robert Frank assembled three identical handmade spiral bound copies of his first book: « Black White and Things » . The book was designed by Werner Zyrd , it was handmade and containing a selection of original photographs. The three original copies were given to : Edward Steichen , Frank’s parents and later the last one was given in 1990 to The National Gallery of Art , Washingthon.
This beautiful facsimile of Robert Frank’s first book was copublished in 1994 by Scalo Verlag, Zurich & The National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C. in conjunction with Frank’s major exhibition: « Moving Out « , organized by The National Gallery of Art from: 2 October to 31 December 1994 , and later in other important museums .
Softcover black wraps with white text on front cover and spine , unnumbered pages (72) with 34 tritone plates printed on Job semi-mat paper by Jean Genoud in Lausanne, Switzerland. Tritone negatives by Thomas Palmer, Newport , Rhode Island . Typeset in Helvetica.
