Mel Bochner. Working drawings and other visible things on paper not necessarily meant to be viewed as art

In 1966, Mel Bochner curated an exhibition of working drawings collected from artist friends and colleagues ( e.a: Carl André, John Cage, Dan Flavin, Dan Graham, Eva Hesse, Sol LeWitt, Robert Smithson, Robert Mangold… ). The work was xeroxed and bound in 4 identical volumes that were mounted in pedestals in the Center of Visual Arts gallery, N.Y. ( December 2 – December 23 1966 ).
This edition is a 1997 re-creation of that event on the occasion of the exhibition « Mel Bochner Projets à l’étude1966 – 1996 » at the Cabinet des Estampes in Geneva, printed from the photocopies dating from the 1966 installation contained in the first binder of « Working Drawings ». 5 volumes (834 p.) printed in a limited edition of only 450 slipcased sets. 4 softcover, glue bound identical volumes in black wrappers presented in a plain cardboard slipcase along with a stapled brochure of bilingual ( English & French ) essays illustrated with black & white photographs .

Condition: perfect for the books but the cardboard slipcase has some very light traces of manipulation.
