Hirai-Kiyosi ( the author, born in 1929 ) would like to draw the reader’s attention to the long architectural history which forms the backdrop to Japanese everyday life today.
At the end of the book: index & glossary ( 14 pages ) were designed to be accessible in either Japanese and English.
As far as possible all the architectural terms used in the original Japanese text have been introduced in the English text in romanised form.
